Roadtrek electrical systems are more involved than most
Roadtrek has consistently pushed house electrical capability further than most Class B builders, particularly on E trek and later lithium equipped models with large battery banks and underhood generation.
That capability is genuinely useful and it also means the electrical system on these vans is more complex than a general RV shop typically encounters. Diagnosis takes longer because there is more to trace.
We plan for that. Quoting an electrical diagnosis on a Roadtrek the way you would on a conventional trailer produces a number that is wrong and a timeline that slips.
The roof cap seam, again
As on every high roof camper van, the bonded seam between the fiberglass cap and the van shell is the primary water path. It runs the length of the vehicle, flexes with the body and sits in full sun.
The presentation is a stain in a headliner corner rather than a visible gap, which means it is generally found well after the bond line opened.
Recaulking over a failed structural bond hides the progression. Opening the seam and evaluating the bond itself is the version that lasts, and on a van this is a defined repair rather than an open ended one.
Ownership changes and older model parts
Roadtrek has been through ownership changes, and support for older models reflects that unevenly. Some parts remain available and some do not.
This is worth establishing before a repair starts rather than during it. When a specific part is unavailable, fabrication or an equivalent substitution is usually possible, and knowing which path applies keeps the timeline honest.
The chassis side is unaffected. Sprinter, Promaster and Chevy parts are available normally regardless of what has happened on the conversion side.
