Known issues

What we see on Renegade RV units

Joint stress where a stiff truck chassis meets a coach body that flexes differently

Cab to house transition sealing and eventual laminate separation

Full body paint weathering by exposure side on units stored outdoors

Garage and deck area structure on toterhome configurations carrying heavy loads

Slide seal compression on large through frame rooms

Front cap stress on long wheelbase units

Basement and compartment alignment as the coach settles on a heavy chassis

Model lines we work on: Ikon Super C on Freightliner chassis, Verona and Verona LE, Valencia and Vienna, Veracruz luxury Super C, XL and Classic toterhomes, Explorer and Renegade Sport Deck.

A truck chassis under a coach body creates its own problems

Renegade builds on medium and heavy duty truck chassis, which gives these units towing capability and durability that a standard motorhome chassis cannot match.

It also means a very stiff frame under a coach body that is not stiff. Those two structures move differently over every road input, and the joints between them absorb the difference for the life of the vehicle.

Sealant fatigue at the cab to house transition and stress at the house to chassis attachment points are the predictable results. They are not defects, they are what happens when you join two structures with different behavior.

Toterhome garages and real world loads

Toterhome configurations carry vehicles, equipment and cargo that a motorhome was never designed around. The deck and garage structure is built for it and it still records what it has carried.

Tie down point stress, deck deflection and rear structure flex are the things worth inspecting on a used toterhome. They tell you what the previous owner actually hauled.

Correcting these early is structural maintenance. Correcting them after the rear structure has taken a set is a rebuild.

Paint on a high value Super C

Renegade units carry full body paint with complex schemes, and the same rules apply as on any luxury coach. Matching from a factory code on a vehicle that has weathered outdoors produces a panel that reads as obviously new.

We spray out against your actual adjacent panels and blend outward across neighboring surfaces, carrying the graphic transitions through the blend.

On a vehicle at this value, that level of refinish work is the largest cost driver on most repairs, ahead of the structural work underneath. It is worth understanding that before the estimate rather than during the job.

Questions we get asked

Why does my Super C have cracks near the cab

Because a stiff truck chassis and a coach body move differently over every road input, and the joints between them absorb the difference for the life of the vehicle. That is not a defect, it is what happens when you join two structures with different behavior. Caught before water is involved it is contained.

What should I inspect on a used toterhome

Tie down point stress, deck deflection and rear structure flex. Those tell you what the previous owner actually hauled, which is the most useful information available about the vehicle. Correcting them early is structural maintenance. Correcting them after the rear structure has taken a set is a rebuild.

Why is the paint the biggest line on my estimate

Full body paint with a complex scheme has to be sprayed out against your actual weathered panels, blended across neighboring surfaces, and have the graphics carried through the blend. On a high value Super C that refinish work exceeds the structural repair underneath on most jobs.
