A California built brand that is no longer producing

Alfa Leisure built in Chino, which means a lot of these units stayed in Southern California and many are still here. We see them regularly.

The company ceased production, so factory parts support has ended entirely. Every Alfa repair begins with establishing what can be sourced, what can be substituted and what has to be built.

That is a manageable situation rather than a fatal one. These were reasonably well built units and fabrication handles most of what is no longer available.

Fifth wheel front caps and pin box loads

The front cap on a Gold or Founder fifth wheel sits directly above the pin box, which is where every towing load enters the trailer. It is the highest stress area on the unit.

Crazing there means the laminate is working. Continued towing propagates it into a structural crack, so it is a signal worth acting on rather than watching.

The frame below is worth evaluating at the same time. Rebuilding a cap over a frame that is still moving reproduces the crack in the same place, which is the outcome most owners have already paid for once.

Fabrication and paint on a discontinued unit

Cap sections, compartment doors and trim components get built to match rather than ordered. Laid up to the original construction, a fabricated panel behaves like its neighbors under flex.

Paint on a unit that has been outdoors in Southern California for fifteen years has weathered differently by exposure side, and no factory code describes what is actually on the vehicle.

We match against the actual adjacent panel and blend outward. Graphics are reproduced rather than ordered, and simplifying the scheme is a legitimate and much less expensive option we will lay out.

Questions we get asked

Can an Alfa still be repaired with the company gone

Yes. Factory support has ended entirely, so every repair starts by establishing what can be sourced, substituted or built. That is manageable rather than fatal. These were reasonably well built units and fabrication handles most of what is no longer available.

My Alfa Gold front cap has hairline cracks

Worth acting on rather than watching. The cap sits directly above the pin box where every towing load enters the trailer, so crazing means the laminate is working and continued towing propagates it. Evaluate the frame at the same time, since a cap rebuilt over a moving frame cracks again in the same place.

Can you reproduce the original Alfa paint scheme

Yes, as custom work rather than as an ordered part. Note that after fifteen years outdoors the unit has weathered differently by exposure side and no factory code describes what is actually on it. Simplifying the scheme is a legitimate and much less expensive option, and we will lay out both with real numbers.
