Short answer. The owner bought a bare enclosed trailer and needed it converted into a functional race hauler: secure vehicle tie downs, cabinet and tool storage, a work bench, lighting, shore power and 12 volt distribution, and insulation to make the interior usable in summer. Previous quotes had come from general fabricators with no experience anchoring loads into a trailer floor and frame properly.
What the job involved
- Designed the layout around vehicle loading path, weight distribution and axle position
- Installed E track and D ring anchors mechanically fastened through to frame members rather than floor only
- Built cabinet runs, a work bench and secured tool storage sized to the owner equipment
- Insulated walls and ceiling, then installed finish wall panels and a durable floor covering
- Installed shore power inlet, distribution panel, receptacles and a 12 volt system with LED lighting
- Added roof vent and ventilation to make the interior workable during summer events
- Load tested the anchor points and verified the finished tongue weight and axle loading
How it went back out
The trailer left as a functional hauler with anchors that tie into the frame rather than into a plywood deck, which is the difference between a tie down that holds under a hard stop and one that tears out. Weight distribution was planned rather than discovered on the freeway. This was planned project work, not a claim, and the design was reviewed with the owner before any material was cut.
