Working trailers get repaired on a different clock
A cargo trailer that is out of service is revenue stopped, not a vacation postponed. That reality drives how we schedule and scope this work.
Where an RV owner may be comfortable with a two week repair for a better outcome, a contractor or a mobile business needs the trailer back. We say clearly what can be done fast, what cannot, and what the difference costs.
Sometimes the right answer is a staged repair: get it structurally sound and back to work now, complete the cosmetic side during a slow week later. We will lay that out as an option rather than presenting only the complete version.
Skin, rivets and the vibration that loosens both
Enclosed cargo trailers carry aluminum skin over a steel or aluminum frame, fastened with rivets or screws along seams. Road vibration works those fasteners over years, and a loosened line of rivets is both a water path and the start of a panel that will eventually oil can.
Owners usually notice the water first, as a stain on cargo rather than as a visible gap in the trailer. The seam has generally been open for a while by then.
Skin replacement is straightforward on these trailers and it is one of the more economical repairs we do, provided the frame underneath is still sound. Checking the frame first is what determines whether new skin is a repair or a cover.
Ramp doors, tongues and load habits
The two areas that reveal how a cargo trailer has actually been used are the rear ramp door and the tongue. Both take loads directly and both wear predictably.
Ramp hinges elongate and spring assists weaken, which shows up as a door that is heavier to lift than it used to be. Tongue and coupler stress shows up as a trailer that has started to tow differently.
Neither is expensive to correct early. Both become structural jobs if they are ignored long enough, so they are worth mentioning at intake even when they are not the reason you brought it in.

Questions we get asked
Can you get my cargo trailer back fast
Often yes, and where we cannot we will say so up front. A staged repair is frequently the right answer for a working trailer: structurally sound and back to work now, cosmetic completion during a slower week later. We will lay that out as an option rather than presenting only the complete version.
My trailer skin has a stain inside but no visible gap
That is the normal presentation. Road vibration loosens rivets along a seam line, creating a path that is invisible from outside but wets cargo inside. The seam has usually been open a while. Skin replacement is economical provided the frame beneath is still sound, which is why we check the frame first.
The ramp door has gotten heavy to lift
Spring assist wear plus hinge elongation. Both are cheap to correct at this stage and both become structural work if left long enough. Worth mentioning at intake even if it is not why you brought the trailer in.
