That is what they are built for, and it also means the structure lives closer to its design limit than a light travel trailer ever does. The practical consequence is that small structural signals matter more. A hairline in the front cap, a cabinet that starts to shift, a slide that needs more force than it used to are all worth investigating rather than tolerating. We take structural complaints on these units seriously because the failure modes are progressive. Nothing about a fifth wheel frame gets better with more miles. ## Toy hauler garages and the loads they were not designed for Cyclone and Road Warrior garages are rated, and the ratings are real. What we see repeatedly is a garage carrying more than the rating because the cargo happened to fit. The evidence shows up at the ramp door first. Hinge pin holes elongate, cables stretch, and the door stops sitting where it was built to sit. After that the rear wall begins to flex, and the wall to floor joint at the rear is the next thing to open. None of this is dramatic. It is cumulative, and by the time an owner notices the door needs a shove, the wear has been accumulating for a couple of seasons. ## Fuel stations and generator compartments Toy haulers with onboard fuel stations and generator compartments have penetrations through the floor and sidewall that a normal trailer does not have, and those penetrations are potential water and vapor paths. We inspect them as a matter of course on any Heartland toy hauler that comes in for other work, because sealing failures there are both a water problem and a safety consideration. This is straightforward preventive work. Replacing the seal will not fix it. The door has moved out of its designed closed position, and the hinges and cables are what put it back. ### Do you check the generator compartment on toy haulers Yes, as a matter of course whenever a toy hauler is in for other work.
